Noom Launches Free GLP-1 Companion Program to Support Patients Before, During, and After Treatment

Overview

  • Noom has launched its free GLP-1 Companion program for anyone taking a GLP-1 medication, regardless of provider.
  • The program offers behavior change tools, nutrition guidance, medication tracking, muscle preservation support, and AI-powered features to improve long-term outcomes.
  • The initiative aims to help patients build sustainable habits and maintain weight loss throughout and beyond GLP-1 therapy.

The News

Noom has introduced a free GLP-1 Companion program, available through its app to all GLP-1 users, regardless of where they receive treatment. The program provides medication tracking, personalized protein goals, AI-powered meal logging, body composition scans, Muscle Defense workouts through FitOn, educational resources, and habit-building tools to support patients before, during, and after GLP-1 therapy.

The launch builds on Noom’s research showing that users on GLP-1 medications lost 1.4 times more weight than those using medication alone, while new preliminary data suggest members maintained most of their weight loss after discontinuing treatment, with less than 2% body weight regain over 12 months. The free offering is designed to complement clinical care by providing ongoing behavioral support beyond routine healthcare visits.

Industry Perspective

As GLP-1 adoption accelerates, there is growing recognition that medication alone may not deliver lasting results. Digital behavior change programs that support nutrition, exercise, muscle preservation, and long-term habit formation are becoming an important complement to obesity treatment and weight maintenance.

Strategic Impact

By making its GLP-1 Companion available at no cost, Noom expands access to evidence-based behavioral support while strengthening its position in the digital obesity care market. The initiative broadens Noom’s reach beyond its paid membership model and reinforces the company’s focus on improving long-term outcomes through sustainable lifestyle change alongside GLP-1 therapy.
