Overview
Elevance Health is addressing the digital divide through initiatives such as Get Connected for Health and CareBridge, providing underserved populations with devices, connectivity, digital tools, and virtual care access.
The programs aim to reduce barriers related to income, geography, digital literacy, and language while improving engagement with healthcare services.
The News
Elevance Health is expanding efforts to improve digital healthcare access through Get Connected for Health and CareBridge. The Get Connected for Health program provides eligible members with smartphones, unlimited data, talk, and text services, and access to telehealth, health plan, and personalized wellness tools at no cost. Educational resources and technical support are also provided to help members use these services effectively.
CareBridge, an Elevance Health subsidiary, provides Medicaid members, individuals enrolled in Dual-Special Needs Plans, and people receiving home and community-based services with cellular-enabled tablets connecting them to care teams. Members can access virtual care 24/7 through video, chat, or text in multiple languages. CareBridge clinicians speak 19 languages and support more than 300 additional languages, helping address both technology and language barriers.
Industry Perspective
Limited internet access, device availability, and digital literacy can prevent underserved populations from accessing telehealth and essential health information. As healthcare becomes increasingly digital, connectivity is emerging as an important component of equitable care delivery.
Strategic Impact
By combining devices, connectivity, digital literacy support, multilingual care, and virtual services, Elevance Health is embedding digital equity into its care model. The initiatives can improve healthcare engagement, support care coordination, reduce avoidable emergency visits, and help vulnerable populations manage their health more independently.
