Effective July 1, 2026, deprexis, GAIA’s evidence-based digital therapeutic for depression, can be prescribed and reimbursed in Switzerland under the country’s mandatory health insurance (OKP). The software is indicated for adults with mild to moderate depression and recurrent depressive disorders and can be prescribed by specialists in psychiatry, psychotherapy, and psychosomatic or psychosocial medicine. The 90-day program is designed to complement ongoing psychotherapy or provide support while patients await treatment. Recognition as a Swiss digital health application with a medical purpose (DGA) was based on a strong body of clinical evidence, including studies from the University of Bern demonstrating the effectiveness of online therapies. A randomized controlled trial at the University of Fribourg is further evaluating deprexis in routine clinical practice. The therapy costs CHF 271.32, with mandatory health insurance covering up to CHF 193.32, while the remaining amount may be reimbursed through supplemental insurance.
