Overview

  • Omada Health reported 12-month real-world data demonstrating improved weight loss outcomes through its GLP-1 companion program.
  • Members who remained on GLP-1 therapy for one year achieved an average weight loss of 18.4%, outperforming comparable real-world evidence.
  • The findings highlight the role of Omada’s behavioral support and medication management in improving long-term treatment outcomes.

The News

Omada Health announced results from a 12-month real-world analysis of 965 members enrolled in its Enhanced GLP-1 Care Track. Members who remained on GLP-1 therapy for one year achieved an average weight loss of 18.4%, compared with 11.9% reported in comparable real-world evidence. Among those who persisted, Omada members achieved 47% greater average weight loss on semaglutide and 37% greater weight loss on tirzepatide. The study also found that 67% of participants remained on therapy after one year, exceeding the 47–49% persistence reported in similar studies.

The program combines medication support with lifestyle coaching to help members manage side effects, build healthy habits, and sustain weight loss throughout their treatment journey. Omada noted that even members who discontinued therapy before one year achieved an average weight loss of 13.1% versus 6.8%, outperforming comparable real-world data. The analysis was conducted through the company’s Omada Insights Lab ANSWERS Initiative, which evaluates real-world outcomes from its weight management programs.

Industry Perspective

As GLP-1 therapies gain widespread adoption, healthcare organizations and employers are increasingly focused on improving medication persistence and long-term outcomes. Companion care programs that combine behavioral support with medication management are emerging as an important strategy for maximizing the clinical and economic value of obesity treatments.

Strategic Impact

The findings strengthen Omada’s position in the GLP-1 companion care market by demonstrating the value of its integrated virtual care model. Strong real-world outcomes and higher medication persistence may further support adoption among employers and health plans seeking evidence-based solutions that improve patient outcomes while optimizing investments in obesity care.
