Bausch + Lomb announced the creation of Orphia, an AI-powered digital health platform designed to integrate with existing eye care workflows, regardless of the products, devices, or treatments used by providers. The platform’s first application focuses on pre-surgery cataract education, helping patients understand their condition and treatment options while identifying questions and concerns before meeting with their surgeon.
To support its conversational patient engagement capabilities, Bausch + Lomb is working with Hippocratic AI, whose healthcare-focused AI platform is built on more than 200 million patient interactions and has been validated by over 7,500 U.S.-licensed clinicians. Orphia will initially support cataract care and is expected to expand over time into care coordination and practice workflow management.
