XRHealth Acquires Swing Therapeutics to Expand AI-Powered Digital Care for Chronic Pain

Overview

XRHealth has acquired Swing Therapeutics to expand its digital health platform beyond extended reality into mobile apps, wearables and FDA-authorized digital therapeutics.

The acquisition adds Swing’s Stanza digital therapeutic and Swing Care virtual specialty clinic, strengthening XRHealth’s capabilities in fibromyalgia and chronic pain.

The News

XRHealth has acquired Swing Therapeutics, bringing together augmented and virtual reality, smartphone apps, smartwatches, IoT wearables, AI and licensed clinicians within a single digital health platform. The deal adds Stanza, Swing’s FDA De Novo-authorized digital behavioral therapy for fibromyalgia symptoms, to XRHealth’s existing behavioral health and chronic pain capabilities.

In a Phase 3 randomized controlled trial published in The Lancet, Stanza demonstrated improvements in fibromyalgia severity, pain intensity, fatigue, sleep and depression. Swing Care, the company’s virtual specialty care platform, combines Stanza with medication management, mental health support and personalised coaching.

Founded in 2019, Swing has treated thousands of patients through Swing Care. At one year, 88.0% of patients reported improved overall wellbeing, with 50.2% describing themselves as “much improved” or better.

Industry Perspective

Digital therapeutics and virtual care are increasingly helping address chronic conditions where specialist capacity is limited and long-term treatment can be difficult to access. Combining digital tools with clinical oversight and reimbursement could support more continuous and scalable care.

Strategic Impact

The acquisition expands XRHealth’s reach across physical, cognitive and behavioural health while adding clinically validated chronic pain and fibromyalgia solutions. By combining AI, digital therapeutics, connected devices, outcomes data and licensed clinicians, XRHealth aims to create a broader, reimbursable platform for personalised chronic care.
