Nivi and MSD Partner to Expand AI-Powered HPV Education and Cervical Cancer Prevention Across Emerging Markets

Overview

Nivi and MSD have launched a global initiative to improve awareness of HPV-related diseases and cervical cancer prevention, beginning in India, Indonesia, and Thailand.

The collaboration will use Nivi’s conversational AI platform to provide personalized HPV education, risk assessments, local-language guidance, and referrals to vaccination and screening services.

The initiative aims to address information and access gaps in markets with a significant cervical cancer burden while generating consumer insights to support broader health equity strategies.

The News

Nivi and MSD have partnered to deploy Nivi’s conversational AI platform to expand HPV education and cervical cancer prevention support across emerging markets, initially focusing on India, Indonesia, and Thailand.

The platform, which has engaged more than 2.5 million users, will provide personalized HPV risk assessments, answer questions in local languages, and connect users with nearby vaccination and screening services through channels such as WhatsApp. Nivi will also generate insights into consumer health-seeking behaviors to inform MSD’s health equity strategies.

The initiative combines digital outreach with partnerships involving healthcare workers and local pharmacies. Nivi’s platform has reported engagement rates of up to 90% through AI personalization and local healthcare partnerships.

The program addresses major prevention gaps across the target markets. India recorded 127,526 new cervical cancer cases and 79,906 deaths in 2022, while screening participation in Indonesia remains below 10%. Thailand has achieved 50–70% screening coverage but continues to face a significant disease burden.

The initial rollout began in September 2025, with expansion to additional markets dependent on program performance and impact metrics.

Industry Perspective

HPV vaccination, screening, and early education remain central to global efforts to eliminate cervical cancer. Digital health tools that provide localized, personalized information could help address knowledge gaps and improve access to prevention services in underserved populations.

Strategic Impact

The collaboration combines Nivi’s AI-powered consumer engagement and behavioral insights with MSD’s expertise in HPV education and global health. For MSD, the initiative provides a scalable way to engage communities directly and better understand health-seeking behaviors. For Nivi, the partnership expands the reach of its conversational AI model across high-need emerging markets while supporting broader cervical cancer prevention goals.
